Can anyone recommend what they are using for client portals or method of sharing files securely? Does anyone use SmartVault?
    Thank you,

I have been a ShareFile user for many years.. Although it has some portal like capabilities (which I need to explore more) I use it more as a way of sending and receiving files securely. It has the ability to purge all data automatically after a user specified number of days. I like that. If a client requests a copy of their tax return I can send them a ShareFile e-mail easily enough..I don't feel the need to store their tax return copy or their sensitive docs indefinitely on line. Responding to their request is also another chance to "communicate" with client anyway.

Some folks love SmartVault. I tried it and found it a little "clunky" though..Unfortunately the Smart Vault people talked me into a whole year of discounted billing and now won't refund my money because I was past 90 days so beware. Buy it monthly before you commit.

Lori, I have been using Canopy for the last 2+ years.  It functions as a CRM, Document management solution as well as a portal.  The program is web based and they even have an app that makes access even easier through your phone or tablet.

We’ve moved onto SmartVault. We were fine with eFile cabinet but it wasn’t integrated with Lacerte and I wanted that. Took FOREVER to transfer info and get laundry list of issues out of the way.

I have been using Smart Vault for the past three years.  It works well for my practice.  Clients can upload or download information to the portal.  When a client uploads a file, I receive notification.  There are a few issues that do come up, but tech support clears them up for you quickly and efficiently.

I would be glad to discuss my experience with you, if you have any questions.

We have used CPA Site Solutions for many years as our portal.  It also has the ability to exchange files to any of our staff by a client and the files can be of any size including massive QBooks files.  We tie it in with out website by them as well.

We use Office Tools. I used Smart Vault in the past and thought it was quite good.
