Today, NCCPAP Immediate Past President, Stephen Mankowski, participated in a conference call with the Internal Revenue Service concerning issues effected by the IRS redacting of transcripts several months ago.  Upon initially hearing the IRS redacting proposal, Steve immediately suggested the IRS to simply put the unredacted information into the representative's e-Services secure mailbox.

Well, NCCPAP is proud to announce that effective January 7, 2019 the Wage & Income transcripts can be obtained in an unredacted format via two methods:

    1. Calling Practitioner Priority Service (PPS), faxing in a properly authorized Power of Attorney Form, and after authentication by IRS, request an unredacted report be placed into their secure mailbox
    2. If the POA is already on file with the IRS, the W&I report can be obtained through the Transcript Delivery Service (TDS) inside of the e-Services.

These are key elements to allow CPA's to prepare current and prior year returns for taxpayers where access to the original source data is not available.

The IRS will be releasing further information later today through the Alert system.
