I have a Florida (1040 client) resident who owes estimate tax money for September 15th.
Right now she's staying with daughter in NY area. I've mailed her the voucher to the
daughter's residence to pay by Sept. 15th.
But with Dorian, should I have her send the estimate payment to the Hartford, CT address
to assure it gets to IRS by September 15th? Or let her send it to  the NC address and
"hope" that it will get to IRS by the due date?
I realize that IRS will most likely extend due dates for tax payments for effected areas,
but I'm more concerned with the mail getting to the IRS address in NC.

So as not to worry about the payment and the mail, have the client make the payment online.

I would see what the IRS will do in the next few days. In the past the pushed the due days forward.

You are not the only one with this issue.

I have been in touch with the local area IRS Stakeholder Liaison on this issue and was advised that IT IS ACCEPTABLE to send the tax estimate payment that is supposed to be sent to Charlotte - to send it to Hartford - provided the Social Security Number and year to apply the estimate to are shown on the check.
Thank you to all who have responded.
