Accounting Power Cloud Software / Quickbooks Online thoughts

    Good afternoon all:

    I am looking to

I recently found some information regarding Accounting Power software from Accountants Word which is a cloud based software for Client Advisory Services (maintaining books and records/ payroll, etc.).  My practice currently consists of Client Advisory Services but I use my client's Quickbooks Desktop Pro applications.  I wanted to reach out if anyone has had experience with Accountants World and if so, are there any pros/cons.

Also, I am thinking of also incorporating Quickbooks online to my practice for my clients.  I have had limited use in the past with audit clients and it did not seem as user friendly as the Desktop version.  However, it might be more practical to transition my clients to this since it is cloud based.  Any thoughts?

    Thank you.

    Hi Peter

We have a large majority of our clients on QuickBooks Online now. The software has come leaps and bounds over the past few years and in my opinion, has completely caught up and in some cases surpassed the desktop version. It is able to integrate with other software such as pos systems, payroll companies, and other cloud software. There are constantly new apps coming out that can integrate with QBO for better visual analysis, cost control, bill payments, etc. This really streamlines the accounting and bookkeeping process for you and your clients. If you'd like to talk further on this let me know.

    Good morning all,

I use QuickBooks online for a client who uses Square POS system.  Although Square began integrating with QuickBooks in November, 2018, I have not integrated Square with QuickBooks online due to the negative reviews I've read. Does anyone know how well Square integrates with QuickBooks online and the problems associated with doing so? Your feedback is greatly appreciated, thank you.

Yes. The square integration is awful because it brings in individual transactions and simply put, creates a bogged down mess in the file. You have to use a third-party app called Shogo. It's $25 per month and it imports the daily summary into QuickBooks Online automatically each day. You map the items so that it picks up cash, credit card receivable, sales accounts, sales tax etc. I'm not crazy about the square platform for restaurants though. Toast is a better platform in my opinion for that industry.

Thanks for your feedback, James.  Square is user friendly in that it exports financial information to Excel which I manually enter into Quickbooks on a monthly basis. Square also provides useful reports for bank reconciliations.  My client is a tattoo artist with four locations and growing.

I would recommend getting Shogo. Nobody should be manually entering sales data or bank/credit card transactions these days. For $25 per month you will eliminate hours of manual data entry.

    Hi Peter,
I agree with James Hall.  QBO has come a long way and no one under the age of 40 wants to use the desktop version any more.

    Peter:

We are doing a QBO training and certification track on the third day of the Long Island Tax Professionals Symposium, November 20-22nd. If you are interested, I suggest you register as soon as possible, as the program is likely to sell out.
