    Hello Mark,<u5:p></u5:p>

    <u5:p> </u5:p>

Happy New Year to you my friend!<u5:p></u5:p>

    <u5:p> </u5:p>

Unfortunately New York does require a Driver’s License or a State ID, however similar to the federal they do allow you to indicate that the taxpayer has neither one.  Our treatment for NY will be different than federal because (of course) NY wants to be different.  For federal if a DL or ST ID is not entered we will automatically check the box indicating the taxpayer does not have either and we will generate a diagnostic to warn the preparer.  NY will not allow us to do that so for NY we will generate an EF Critical Diagnostic informing the preparer they must make an entry in one of those 3 fields.<u5:p></u5:p>

    <u5:p> </u5:p>

You’ll be happy to know that we are way ahead of last year with our development.  The only thing of importance that the state hasn’t released yet is the IT-204 and the 2D specs that go with it.  We hope to get it next week and if we do we should have no problem getting it ready for the 1/23 EF go live date.<u5:p></u5:p>

    <u5:p> </u5:p>

If you have a venue to do so please share this with our NCCPaP friends.  I always struggle to find ways to get this kind of information out to our customers.<u5:p></u5:p>

    <u5:p> </u5:p>

Let me know if you can be of any assistance,<u5:p></u5:p>

Thank you for forwarding this e-mail.

Pro-Systems sent an e-mail confirming that New York State (and Alabama) will require a driver's license or State ID# for e-filing, or acknowledgment that the taxpayer has neither.
