"QuickBooks has stopped working - Close program or check for solution" -- impacts 2014 to 2018 QB versions.

[per Intuit/QB Tech Support email Mon 3/5/2018 4:54 PM]

"Later on, we found out that the issue is because of the Microsoft KB4074805 update.
We have seen this only for customers who have recently updated their windows.
    The update has affected .NET Framework 3.5.1, 4.5.2, 4.6, 4.6.1,4.6.2, 4.7 and 4.7.1.
As this seems to be the root cause we recommend consulting with an IT person to
roll back .NET. We continue to research this issue."

On 5 March 2018, I contacted QB Pro-Advisor technical support, it took three hours
to identify the issue.  I use Windows 7, XP Professional, Service Pack 1.

Tech support stated they (Intuit/QB) became aware of the problem 11 days ago and
started an investigation re the Windows Update conflict.  They recommended uninstalling
the Windows Update as a workaround.  I declined as the update relates to security.

If you run into this issue with QuickBooks Desktop, this could be the reason.
