Mary Feeney Bonawitz, Ph.D., CPA is a retired Assistant Professor of Accounting at Penn State University, Schuylkill Campus. Dr. Bonawitz holds a PhD in Accounting from Florida International University in Miami and a BS and an MS in Accounting from the State University of New York at Albany. She is a licensed CPA in Pennsylvania, New York, and the US Virgin Islands.

LEARNING OBJECTIVE:  Partnerships are one of the forms of organizations that professional groups adopt. The tax treatment of these entities is familiar to most of us and we can find CPE every year on the changes to this topic. However, the accounting for the Partnership form of organization is stable with no changes in many years. This CPE will review main topics of Pros/Cons, Alternative Legal Forms, Capital Account contributions of cash and other assets both tangible and intangible. Allocation of income and ownership interest as it relates to partners leaving and entering the partnership.
