  • 1.  IRS Form 1045 Schedule B

    Posted 12-26-2021 06:09 AM
I have recently prepared three IRS Form 1045 under the Cares Act rules for my clients.
I  just received a letter from the IRS stating a calculation on Schedule B (Form 1045) line 6 is incorrect.  It was the exact way I calculated it on two previous returns that were processed and refunds were issued.
Has anyone received a letter from the IRS regarding Form 1045 Schedule B calculations?
Can anyone recommend what area to call at the IRS. Unfortunately, when I call regarding the notice the answer I get is refer to the notice. With the deadline to refile being December 31st looks like I will have to prepare a 1040X for all five years.

    That is so frustrating.....

I suggest you reach out to the taxpayer advocate, perhaps they can cut through your red tape

I would try the practitioner's hotline, the TAS group usually does not take action within a few days in a case like this. Also mail in another copy certified mail before 12/31 to secure your filing date.

    Thank you
Looking more like I will have to go with 1040x for each year. However, that filing also requires the 1045 schedule B. Just can't win on this one and it's a large seven figure refund. The way things have gone with processing delays wish I rolled it forward.

Will client utilize loss in 2021? When did you file 2020 return. Can you amend and attach statement to carry forward? 1045 instructions say you have 6 months to amend with a statement.
