Looking for feedback on switching from Lacerte to Drake. Was file conversion successful, or did you have to make a lot of manual corrections?
    Thanks in advance.

Drake - good software, terrific people, excellent support, etc.  BUT - I found it to be not in Lacerte's class when comparing the speed and ease of data input.  I tried just what you are contemplating and ended up back on a combination of Lacerte and their PTO (online) product.
Conversion of data to Drake did go well.
    Good luck

    Deb

We have been using drake for about 10 yrs.

Their conversions are very good,  but need to be watched. Usually in the state applications.

Previously we switched from prosystem FX  to laceerte,   there were many issues there too.

Moral of the story,  they all work, and they all must be carefully monitored and reviewed.  The price differential is so grate it really needs to be considered.  I will tell you that once you are familiar with any software... they are similar.

We use Lacerte, drake, tax slayer. Drake will handle the more sophisticated returns, but may not produce trails showing certain in depth computations.  For instance.. reconciling out passive losses used and un used...  drake does it right, but the schedules make you work to follow it.

Lacerte was superior in this application.

Also, if you are contemplating a change,  I STONGLY suggest you begin it now, rather than wait for 2020  to roll in.

    Hope all is well....

When I converted to Drake in 2014 not everything was brought over. Also check your depreciation schedules as you do th next year return. Conversion was relatively painless except for the above and I am very satisfied.

Our office just finished with our first year with Drake having converted from Lacerte. The import from Lacerte was okay but not perfect. We had some tweaking on depreciation, carryovers etc when doing the 2019 returns. The Not For Profits could not be imported (we were told that when we purchased Drake).
We found Drake easier in many respects:
Would be happy to talk on phone. Give me a call at 516-694-6808
