I'm looking to double check the little information I found on whether an estate has to file a form 1099 when they paid an executors fee to a family member of the deceased who is not a professional executor. It appears to me that the estate does Not have to file form 1099 for the payment of an executors fee since it is not in a trade or business although the executor has to report it on their personal return as other income not subject to SE tax. FYI, the asset only has personal assets and is not engaged in a business either. Can someone please confirm that I'm getting this right? If I'm wrong then would it be filed on a 2020 Form 1099-MISC as other income? Can someone please clarify this for me?
