A CPA colleague in my community, who I've known for many years, asked if he could use my efin# to efile his returns - as he had unspecified issues with the IRS, and his # was suspended/revoked. He offered to pay me for the service. He claims I am listed as as ERO, and that "makes it ok"; not sure if this changes anything. Obviously don't want to do something that may come back to haunt me.

Is there any circumstance that will allow me to help him out - or not?

    Thank you for your comments.

    Hi Martin,

Where do I begin?  Run, do not walk away from this.  Look at IRS Publication 3112 for a hundred reasons why you cannot "loan" your EFIN to anyone, especially to someone with unspecified reasons their EFIN was revoked!
