    Hello All,

I have been a long time Lacerte user. It may be time for a change. Has anyone converted from Lacerte to Ultra tax? If yes, I would appreciate any input on conversion process, learning curve to get up and running, and overall opinion of Ultra Tax.

    TY

    hi Robert

i too have been using Lacerte..  my i ask what has started you thinking of making this change.?

what do you estimate the difference in cost between the two?
    .
i can tell you that we migrated from both drake and Pro System and it was  NOT fun. so it is a huge decision.

    regards to all...

    Robert,

I would love to know your feelings regarding this.  We are life time Lacerate users, but they have been doing nothing to keep the program moving ahead at the same pace as Ultra-Tax.  The fact that they are phasing out DMS (They we gave relied upon since 2003) is extremely bothersome to us.

    Ross & Abby,

Thank you both for responding. I would invite anyone with a concern to call me in my office to discuss. 631-569-5600. I am disappointed that Intuit has not been more progressive about a DMS solution with a link to a portal. It is being outsourced at an additional cost. I continue to struggle with "going to the cloud" and find no integrated solution to support that transition. Intuit, at least as it relates to Lacerte, seems to be doing less and not more. Intuit has discontinued  DMS and the tax research component of the tax software effective this year while raising my cost by 15%. We had more issues with Lacerte this year as compared with any prior year. Was that just us? I have the sense this was all planned by Lacerte. They bundled certain services, raised the cost and now are discontinuing services.

It was time to do my due diligence. I spoke with sales person at Ultra Tax on Friday. He was very helpful and system sounds great...but he is sales person, I would not have expected anything different. He got me a quote that is locked in for 3 years. I need to compare costs. Not as easy as it sounds. At this point, I am not sure that cost is a key factor. I am more interested in work flow, integration and confidence that my key vendor is going to be there to support my business.

This whole process troubles me because I am a long time and loyal Lacerte customer. I feel that we are all busy enough. The thought of taking on a transition like this is not giving me a warm and fuzzy feeling. However, I think I need to look at other options.

Bob: I have using Ultratax for many years and have been using it in the cloud for at least 5 years and would not switch. I even have them hosting my PPC engagement software. If there is anything you need to know, you can always give me a shout. Rob ------------------------------------------- Robert Brown ROBERT N.
