hi rob,
Very interesting topic, as there are many products to choose from.
some questions I might ask in making a decision is:
how long will you be in that computer. for instance, I prefer accessing it for a moment, and then sending myself an accountants copy. My preference for this, is that I prefer to work on my system, and then send it back to my client when done. Other related services such as printing etc.. are already configured.
if your time there is momentary then any of the products work well.... I happen to use Team viewer... it is free and no hassle for the client to install. Very similar to go to my pc, or log me in.....
but if you are intending on working in a clients system for an extended period I strongly suggest programs like simple start, or remote desktop.. this is because the interface is full screen and it appear and FEELS like you are at the clients terminal. Remote desktop again is free, but requires port forwarding configuration of their router.... not hard, but slightly invasive.
Another very important question is , are u going to share screens with your client as opposed to just get your work done.
uy
if you are going to share and you are going to be in there for a while, again I would point to simple start, but it s not free.
as far as hosting goes, these seem to be a server where you buy the right to be made a user and have access granted. they are terminal servers.
I have my own terminal server, and if you would like a walk thru, my pleasure. you access it with Remote desktop and you are in... Right networks is the preferred vendor of quickbooks for this platform.
feel free to call if you would like to discuss any of the above in greater depth. or just post it here...

Subject: QuickBooks Remote Access
Hi all,
Any recommendations for remote access to a client's computer for reaching/working on QuickBooks data files?
There are services that host Qbooks files, I have seen others using Windows remote access feature, and other services such as Logme in or GoToMyPC. Any thoughts, pros or cons would be appreciated.
