    I have a medical PC that did a name change and medicare is asking for something official from the IRS. Any suggestions?

    Hi Robert,

    You can request a 147C letter. I've requested them over the phone. It might be possible now to make the request online.

    Thanks Mary. I have to see if they changed the name on payroll tax filings, so that it is in the system. If not, the 147c letter won't have the correct name.

    The IRS Cincinnati Submission Processing Center located in Covington, Ky., will be closing in 2019. If you have clients who need a 147C letter for Backup Withholding purposes, please send your request to the Ogden or Kansas City centers.
