  • 1.  Can PPP be Used to Pay Workers Comp Premiums?

Worker's comp premiums are not specifically mentioned in the sba regs. Could they be considered an employee benefit or a state tax driven by employment?

    Thank you!

Great question.  I have investigated other insurance premiums and been told that anything not specifically articulated, including med mal, GL and other coverage is NOT included on the non-payroll expense side.  As these can be costly expenses, the value of the PPP as a grant is diminished. Given the opportunity, I would expect the lender to classify these expenses as outside the scope as they would result in repayable obligations.
