NCCPAP would like to thank its members for their help in opposing the IRS' decision to retire the Disclosure Authorization and Electronic Account Resolution (DA and EAR) services. The IRS just announced that they will postpone the retirement of these services until Sept. 2 instead of its original date of August 11. NCCPAP would like to acknowledge that the IRS acted appropriately by delaying the retirement of the two programs until the absolute last minute.
While the delay is not a complete victory--since once the portal transition work is complete, DA and EAR will be unavailable--the IRS acted correctly by following the recommendation of NCCPAP and that of other concerned tax groups across the country with whom NCCPAP counts as colleagues and professional allies in these situations.
