just a few points:
1. to the best of my knowledge, the IRS never sent out reminders.
2. the IRS site is not always the easiest to use. If you don't have the proper info, you cannot get the results.
3. this year, the IRS decided to start "double-checking" returns this year. If something was missing, the returns became "unpostable" despite being accepted through MEF. Then, the only way that the TP knew there was an issue, was by calling them.
